The rod has nice action and is quite acceptable for everyday fishing. The reel, however, is a major disappointment. It snarled inside numerous times before it finally decided to hopelessly consume a big chunk of fishing line and render itself useless. The construction of the reel is such that it is barely serviceable. Rivets, or whatever, are used where screws should be. In my opinion, it is junk. After coming to the conclusion that the reel was hopelessly snarled I purchased a good old Zebco 33 to replace it and have not had a bit of trouble ever since. (I kept the smaller, cheap reel thinking I would either figure out a way to repair or re-engineer it or perhaps crush it or burn it to vent my frustrations) My advice, if you know and like the Zebco "tradition", skip this one and invest in a 33 rod and reel combination. |
